Making the podcast and booklet

Updated: Oct 30, 2018

We had the final session of the project today, where the volunteers designed the booklet, choosing pictures, layouts, and colour schemes to present some of the oral histories they gathered. They also selected sound-clips and narrated a podcast, learning how to use Audacity — an audio editing freeware — to assemble the clips.

The booklet has been sent to the printers and will be distributed around the UK docklands in which Somali communities have settled. The podcast can be found on the project SoundCloud here, https://soundcloud.com/user-645788420/somali-seafarers-podcast, and on our media page.

All the volunteers have worked really hard throughout the project, so make sure you check out all the fantastic resources they have created, which can all be found on this website.
